Our friend Jason the book illustrator

I am not an illustrator, but I love cartoons. When I decided to write Multicultural Me, I looked far and wide for an illustrator who could capture the humour I had in mind.

I met Jason Trevenen right here in Perth and he has been magic! He used to work for Walt Disney Animation and he knew exactly how to draw cartoons that were alive and full of colour.

We spent over a year brainstorming, creating and drawing the funny illustrations and scenes in the book. When you look at the pictures, just know that Jason and I have deliberately chosen every character and scene to tell the story of the four main characters.

Jason, his wife Felicity and their 3 kids Nashota, Roarke and Akeevah have been so wonderful during this whole process – especially when I screamed their house down in excitement every time I saw a new sketch. I am so grateful they are now my friends.
