In August 2016, I’ll be celebrating the 1 year anniversary of writing Multicultural Me. I’m going on this tour to read my book, share my stories and tell children how I use cartoons and comedy to make new friends.
I wish to show kids that if I can make friends anywhere in Australia and the world, then they can too!
Why South Africa?
In 2012 I took part in ‘100 Dolls, Countless Hearts’, a Uthando Project book featuring Australian, indigenous and migrant doll makers in Australia. We sent our handmade dolls to Dlalanthi, a non-profit organisation in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. They use PLAY to communicate with children, their caregivers and families in communities affected by HIV, poverty and loss.
I’m excited to visit Dlalanthi for the first time to exchange stories about play, laughter and friendship with their children and teachers.
